National Youth day: NGO mourns bad governance, makes demand from government

Youths all over Nigeria have been asked not to relent in their demands for good governance, accountability and an end to police brutality in Nigeria saying it is not yet Uhuru until the government does the right thing.

According to a press release signed by Tosin Adesile, President of Africa Youth Circle, a Non-Governmental organisation based in Ogun State has commended the federal Government for recognising the youth and declaring a day to honour them, yet, the youths are not happy due to total disregard for youths in the country as well as police brutality.

Adesile who explained that the youth represent 43% of the population and this has carefully shown how important they are to country adding that government show address the problem of unemployment as a matter of urgency to remove youth unrest from the country.

“Even as this year National youth’s day is the first of its kind, yet, it is not worth celebrating and youths should put on black or stained national flag colours to protest bad leadership from our Government”, Adesile added.

The youth leader who on behalf of other Nigerian youths demanded from government to as a matter of urgency EndSWAT, the new police unit established in a hurry saying true reforms comes from great planning.

The statement also requested that the government should end Unemployment, bad Governance, open 774 Youth Skill Acquisition and Help desk in all local Government across the country which should be directly under all local Government to attend to youth’s related issues with the collaboration of civil societies group.

In all, the government should provide justice and benefits for all youths traumatized and killed by the defunct Police SARS and as well give proper orientation to various security units in the country in order to regain the trust of Nigeria youth.
