Newly Trained NDLEA Personnel in viral video not underage, Stop Body-shaming

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has reacted to accusations in some quarters that its newly trained recruit in a viral video is an underage boy.

This comes after pictures of a new recruit of the agency who looked underage went viral on social media.

The picture, which was taken during the passing out parade of 2,500 NDLEA officers on Thursday, October 19, elicits a lot of backlashes with many Nigerians gunning for the agency.

However, reacting to the backlash, the agency in a statement on Saturday, October 21, said: “The newly trained personnel of the Agency whose photo appears above-arrowed- is not underage as being insinuated since this picture taken during the Passing out Parade of 2,500 Narcotic Agents and Narcotic Assistants on Thursday 19th October 2023 got to the social media space.

The personnel may have small body frame but is indeed qualified in terms of academic and age qualifications required for his cadre, Narcotic Assistant II, which include secondary school certificate and being 18 years of age.

Uncomplimentary comments about his size may be tantamount to body shaming.”
