Bayelsa State Government has announced the commencement of an annual Ernest Ikoli Media Public Lecture in honour of the late Bayelsa-born journalist and first editor of the famous Daily Times of Nigeria.
This is coming years after naming the iconic Media Complex in Ikoli’s memory.
Governor Douye Diri who made this known in Yenagoa at a banquet to close the 3-day conference of the Nigerian Guild of Editors said the state would continue to celebrate the pioneering effort of Late Ikoli, a distinguished Bayelsan who excelled in the journalism profession.
“The annual public lecture in honour of our own, Ernest Sesei Ikoli, will be in partnership with the Nigerian Guild of Editors. The Honourable Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy and all other Media Aides are hereby directed to work out the modalities beginning from 2025”, Sen. Diri stated.
The governor, who appreciated members of the Guild for visiting some of the Prosperity Projects across the State, renewed the commitment of his administration to do more for the people.
