The Federal Government have approved the appointment of a new Postmaster General for the
Nigerian Postal Services.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, approved the appointment of Bulus Yakubu as acting Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO, Nigerian Postal Service.
The appointment followed the suspension of Dr. Ismail Adewusi, who was appointed in 2019.
In a statement signed by NIPOST’s Director, Corporate Communications, Franklin Alao revealed the appointment.
It would be recalled that during the tenure of the suspended PMG, the federal government declared that NIPOST was the agency authorised to produce and collect stamp duties across the country.
By this order, NIPOST reclaimed the right to collect stamp duties from the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
This ended the prolonged years of scuffle between both agencies on who had the authority to collect stamp duties in Nigeria.
The New PMG, who holds a Bachelor in Law Degree from Ahmadu Bello University, joined the service of NIPOST in 1990.
Until his appointment, he was the Secretary to NIPOST Governing Board, Director (Special Duties) and also NIPOST Liason Officer to the National Assembly.
