NLC holds protest in Lagos in support oF ASUU strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress has flagged off the two days warning strike in solidarity with the strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities strike across the nation. Eminent Nigerians including Mr. Femi Falana have gathered in Ikeja under the bridge.

The protest which is currently ongoing is also an opportunity for the NLC to bring attention to other issues affecting the nation.

Scores of protesters who stormed the street carried placards with several inscriptions such as ‘Stop importation of petrol, refine the refineries’, ‘Nigeria at 60 years of independence, more hunger in the land’, etc.

There are different placards reading, “Reduce the cost of governance now, save the masses from poverty and hunger.”

The nationwide protest organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress is in solidarity with ASUU over the strike that clocked five months on July 14, 2022.

The police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have deployed personnel in critical infrastructure and facilities in response to the strike.

The Nigeria Labour Congress had on Monday directed workers in state capitals and Abuja to join the protest.
