Muhammed Ibrahim, SSANU President at a press briefing in Abuja said, “beyond the witheld and unpaid salaries, most institutions still owe between three and six months of the N35, 000 wage award as it accused the Federal government of being slow and dodgy wirh regards to announcing a new national minimum wage

“The unions are equally demanding quick fix to the Nation’s security challenges, following the killing of a Deputy Vice Chancellor, of the Uthman Dan Fodio University in Sokoto.

Other issues the unions concerned about are the limited number of educated individuals in the reconstituted Boards of Federal tertiary institutions and the proliferation of State Universities, amidst poor funding of existing ones.”
