Corps Members have been warned to abide by the Oath of Allegiance they swore to, during their Swearing-in Ceremony, as every infraction during service year attracts severe sanctions.

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, NYSC Director General, gave the advice during his visit to Abia State Orientation Camp in Umunna, and also NYSC Akwa-Ibom State Orientation Camp in Ikot-Itie.

He stated further that all Corps Members must respect and appreciate other people’s cultures, stressing that no culture was superior to another.

General Nafiu also admonished them to use their service year experiences to change the different misconceptions they might have had about other regions outside their geo-political zones, before their mobilisation for national service.

While presenting her Camp situation report to General Nafiu, the NYSC Abia State Coordinator, Mrs Gladys Adama said there had been strong synergy between the entire camp participants.

“I wish to report that the conduct of all Corps Members and Camp Officials have been orderly and peaceful.

We have a total of 1,362 Corps Members comprising 680 males and 682 females”, she said.

The NYSC Akwa-Ibom State Coordinator, Mr Sam Pepple told the Director General that the Corps Members had adapted to camp regimentation and were ready to serve with high sense of commitment to camp rules and regulations.

He added that a total of 1,605 Corps Members were registered.

Pepple stated further that the Akwa-Ibom State Governor had granted approval for the renovation of the entire camp facilities.

As at the time of the visit, the Camp Clinic was manned by 1 Resident Doctor, 21 Corps Doctors, 10 Pharmacists, 15 Nurses, 2 Physiotherapists among others.
