OGSG VOWS TO PUNISH CONTRACTORS USING SUBSTANDARD MATERIALS

Dr. Femi Majekodunmi,Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB),
has said that the State government will not hesitate to sanction any contractor found using substandard materials in the course of executing projects.

Dr. Majekodunmi made this known in Abeokuta during the opening of tenders for the 2018/2019 UBEC/SUBEB Intervention Projects, saying the Board would vigorously monitor and supervise the execution of the slated projects.

He urged contractors handling the Board’s projects to always abide by agreed specifications, stating that “the contractors who are bidding for intervention projects should endeavor to use quality materials and comply with the Board standard in a bid not to jeopardise the effort of the State government towards providing a conducive environment for the learners”.

The SUBEB Board noted that upon completion of the selection, prospective contractors and successful companies would be contacted and equipped with the necessary guidelines, disclosing that Governor Dapo Abiodun had paid counterpart funds for 2018/2019 intervention projects for two years with a directive to complete the projects within three to four months.

Majekodunmi commended the Governor for his support in revitalising the education sector through the provision of a conducive learning environment tagged: “Yellow Roof Revolution” across the public primary schools in the State.

In his address, the representative, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Abuja, Mr. Joseph Odusanya, said the Commission regulations and relevant provisions of the Ogun State Procurement Act would be strictly adhered to in the tender processing and contract award exercise.

In his goodwill message, the Director-General, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adesina Olanloye appreciated the Board for its transparency, assuring the contractors that the selection would be done in fairness.
