Ogun Commissioner performs National Library groundbreaking ceremony says project to boast education project

Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology,
has called for an effective synergy among stakeholders, to further achieve results in the implementation of education policies and programmes.

Prof. Arigbabu made the call in Abeokuta, during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ogun State branch of the National Library of Nigeria, saying genuine collaboration between the Federal and State Governments would fastrack the attainment of desired goals in the education sector.

The Commissioner revealed that the present administration had carried out a significant and far-reaching innovation aimed at developing public libraries in the State, adding that construction of the library with an architectural masterpiece and conducive environment would re-awaken reading culture and research among the young and old.

He stated that the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun allocated the 5659.495 square meters of land in a befitting location for the permanent site of the library after 40 years of futile search for land free from encumbrances, saying “It is a groundbreaking record for Ogun State that we are here celebrating the formal commencement of the construction of the State branch of the national library after four decades”.

In her welcome address, the National Librarian and Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria, Prof. Chinwe Anunobi disclosed that the project when completed would be for the use of the people in the State and its environs, encouraging the citizens to protect and see it as a legacy.
