Osun Govt Denies N25,000 Increase In Workers’ Allowance

By Damilare Adeleye

Osun State government has disowned speculations that it has increased the allowance of the state civil servants by N25,000.

Kolapo Alimo, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, made this rebuttal in an official statement released on Sunday.

The state government categorically dismissed the speculations, describing it as false news deliberately concocted to mislead the state’s citizens.

The statement described the originators of misinformation as mischievous individuals with ulterior motives, aiming to sow discord between the government and the dedicated state workforce.

“Attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to the purported N25,000 allowance to workers in November currently in circulation.

“Against this backdrop, the Osun State Government is constrained to dismiss it not only as fake news from the pit of hell but maliciously fabricated to deceive innocent workers and people of the state.

“The administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke is therefore using this medium to assure the public, particularly civil servants, that the post in question is the handiwork of some mischievous elements bent on creating a wedge between a worker-friendly administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke and its loyal workforce,” the statement reads.

The state government reaffirmed its dedication to the welfare of civil servants, stating that it has plans to introduce a comprehensive transport scheme to ease the burden of transportation caused by the removal of the subsidy of Premium Motor Spirit.

The government has urged workers and residents to disregard rumours about worker allowances, as the government is still determining the best way to support workers within the state’s means.

The government has emphasized its commitment to the welfare of its workforce in light of current economic conditions.

“In a matter of days, with all sense of sincerity and commitment to the welfare of workers, the current administration under the watch of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, will roll out a good and well-packaged transport scheme aimed at alleviating the pressure of transportation as a fallout of the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government with its attendant effects on workers and Nigerians generally.”

“We are quick to also emphasize that if there will be an additional allowance, the civil servants in Osun State should rest assured that the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke will make this known via official channels,” the statement added.
