The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled the lawmaker representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State, Ikenga Ugochinyere.
The expulsion of the lawmaker, who serves as the spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties, was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the Imo PDP Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiak.
According to Obiak, the lawmaker was expelled over gross indiscipline, insubordination and anti-party activities.
A letter dated December 5, 2024, and signed by Ideato LGA PDP Chairman, ThankGod Okeke, and Secretary, Onyebuchi Umeh, communicated the expulsion to the Imo State PDP leadership.
The expulsion was reportedly based on a disciplinary committee’s findings submitted on November 27, 2024, which reviewed allegations of misconduct in accordance with the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), specifically Section 57 (1-4).
Part of the letter read, “The expulsion followed the report of the party’s disciplinary committee, dated November 27, 2024, which investigated misconduct charges against Ugochinyere in line with Section 57 (1-4) of the PDP constitution 2017 as amended.”
