Police arrest tricycle rider association chairman for assaulting police officer in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the chairman of the Ikeja Tricycle Riders Association, Oladimeji Ahmed, 48, for allegedly assaulting a police officer.

This was disclosed by the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a tweet on Saturday, August 10.

In a trending video, the suspect was seen having a violent altercation with a police officer at Computer Village in Ikeja.

Reacting to the video, Hundeyin wrote, “Oladimeji Ahmed, aged 48, Ikeja Chairman of Tricycle Riders Association, has been arrested for serious assault on a police officer.

“Ahmed assaulted an Inspector of Police who attempted to impound a motorcycle and arrest the rider for flagrantly obstructing traffic in Ikeja at about 1800hrs on Friday, August 9, 2024. Investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
