A police officer who shot a man dead in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu state is under a thorough probe ordered by Kanayo Uzuegbu, the state’s Commissioner of Police.
The shooting incident happened on 23rd June, 2024, at Echara road in Nsukka as confirmed by the police authorities in the state.
Daniel Ndukwe, Enugu Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) stated that Kanayo Uzuegbu, Commissioner of Police in the state has ordered investigation to begin, to know the true cause of the incident.
The signed statement, stated: “The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID to conduct a full-scale, thorough, and expeditious investigation to unravel the circumstances of the alleged shooting and murder of one Chinedu Edeh “m”, by a police officer at Echara Road, Nsukka, in Nsukka L.G.A., on June 23, 2024.
“He charges the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that everyone, especially the police officer alleged to have shot the victim, found culpable faces the full weight of the law.”
Daniel Ndukwe, the police spokesman said the Commissioner of Police commiserated with the family of the victim, while ensuring that justice would surely prevail.
