The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the death of six persons in a tragic motor accident that occurred yesterday at approximately 6:58 PM, just before Nyanya Bridge, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by SP Josephine Adeh, Command Public Relations Officer, she said, “a distress call was received by the Karu Division reporting a devastating crash involving a Dangote trailer.

The statement said the trailer, heavily loaded with cement and traveling from AYA towards Nyanya Bridge, lost control and plowed into stationary vehicles and caught in traffic.
The impact, according to the police ignited a massive inferno, engulfing fourteen vehicles and caused widespread panic as bystanders and motorists scrambled for safety.
It added that Emergency responders, including police operatives, fire service personnel, and other security agencies, swiftly arrived at the scene, battling thick smoke and intense flames to rescue those trapped.
Despite their efforts, six victims were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to the hospital, where they were tragically pronounced dead, while their remains have been deposited at Karu General Hospital Morgue.
The inferno has been successfully contained and normal traffic flow has since been restored.
The FCT Police Command extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident and prevent future occurrences.
The Command urged Motorists to drive cautiously, adhere to speed limits, and exercise vigilance, especially in high-traffic areas, to prevent such tragedies.
