The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it will ration power supply to parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from January 6 to 20.
The rationing is due to the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) road dualisation project along the Apo axis.
This was disclosed by Ndidi Mbah, TCN General Manager of Public Affairs, the project requires the relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line.
This according to the statement, will result in a planned power outage from 9am to 4pm daily, affecting areas such as Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, and Apo Mechanic.
Other areas to be affected include parts of Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe Chika, and Alaita axis.
TCN apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers that power supply will be restored as soon as the towers relocation and cable stringing are completed.
It added that this relocation work necessitated a planned power outage from 6th to 20th Jan from 9am to 4 pm daily, which is the estimated duration for the dismantling and construction of the towers.
TCN revealed that it will also allow for the restringing of the power cables that will enable resumption of bulk power supply to the Apo Transmission Substation from Gwagwalada Substation.
While the relocation of the transmission towers is a necessity for the road completion project, TCN apologized for the inconvenience this planned power outage will cause.
