Teachers’ welfare our top priority— Aiyedatiwa

The government of Ondo state has reiterated its commitment to continue to prioritize education and support initiatives geared towards empowering teachers in the state.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa gave the assurance in Akure on Wednesday while declaring open the 7th quadrennial (15th) state delegate conference of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ondo state wing.

According to the organisers, the theme of the conference, which was ‘Together We Rise, Amplifying Teachers’ Voices through Union Leadership’ was designed to chart a new course for the leadership of the NUT for another four years.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, commended Ondo state NUT for advocating for the welfare of their members and embracing dialogue at all times.

The governor re-echoed his administration’s resolve to promote the teaching profession and create an enabling environment for the education sector to flourish.

He said, “Since we came on board, we have focused deliberately on the education sector and this includes taking the welfare of our teachers seriously.

“I want to use this medium to reiterate that we are fully committed to the welfare of our teachers and we will continue to do so for the future of our children and generations yet unborn.

“The governor further disclosed his administration’s readiness to continue to work closely with all stakeholders in the education sector, urging teachers in the state to remain committed to the vision of transforming the sector.
