President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of chief executive officers (CEOs) for the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).
The president also appointed CEOs for the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI) and the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD).
The new appointments were announced in a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Tinubu appointed Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, a visiting professor at the NUC, as the commission’s executive secretary.
Ribadu had previously served as the vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and the Sule Lamido University, Jigawa state.
Salisu Shehu was named as executive secretary of the NERDC.Shehu had also served as the vice-chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.
He played a vital role in the establishment of the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano.
The president also named Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi Tsauri as the national coordinator of NEPAD, while Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani was appointed as the executive secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI.
“Jabilu Tsauri holds a master’s in international Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University,” the statement reads.
“He is a seasoned administrator with expertise in legislative affairs, global affairs, and democratic governance and vast experience in public service.
“Yazid Danfulani holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in arts and management from the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.”
“The President believes the appointees’ experience and track record will bring a new sense of commitment, progress, and positive outcomes to fulfil Nigerians’ expectations of their respective organisations,” the statement by Onanuga added.
