A tragic road accident involving a Borno State University staff bus has claimed three lives and left at least 30 others injured.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, said the accident occurred on Wednesday when a truck collided with the side of the university bus.
It was learnt that the victims were immediately rushed to the Umaru Shehu Specialist Hospital, where they were receiving medical attention.
Eyewitnesses reported that the crash caused severe damage to the bus, and emergency responders acted promptly to evacuate the injured to the hospital.
Efforts were ongoing to provide care for the injured while the bodies of the deceased have been evacuated for burial.
The incident is one of several that have been recorded in recent times.
In November, 10 persons died in a road accident that occurred at Yanfari village in the Taura LGA of Jigawa state.
One person sustained injuries in the accident.
A Toyota Hummer bus with registration number HDJ 631 YDD, conveying 11 passengers from Kano to Hadejia, had hit a parked trailer with registration number RGN 180 ZC and somersaulted.
The driver of the bus, along with nine passengers, died on the spot.
