Troops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled an attempted attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the Naval Base at Fish Dam in Lake Chad, In the early hours of today.

The terrorists, who launched the assault on Wednesday around 2 a.m, aimed to destroy newly acquired Swamp Bogeys, special equipment provided by the Borno State Government for clearing waterways.
They were met with fierce resistance from naval personnel, backed by reinforcements from Baga. A heavy exchange of gunfire followed, lasting over two hours, before the attackers were forced to retreat.
Scores of terrorists were neutralized in the clash, and several improvised explosive device (IED) materials were recovered.
Although the attackers managed to destroy an ambulance and two other vehicles, they were unable to reach the Swamp Bogeys. Some military personnel sustained injuries during the operation.
Air component teams are currently carrying out follow-up missions across the waterways to pursue and eliminate fleeing insurgents.
