Uganda frees Nigerian artiste Omah,Tem

Republic of Uganda has finally released Nigerian artiste, Omah Lay and Ms Tem after lot of interventions by the Nigerian high Commission in Uganda.

According to a release order originated from the high Court of Makindye with number KAT/CRB/3815/2020 addressed to kitalya prison ordered the duo to be released.

Sparklight news earlier reported that Nigerian artistes, Omah Lay and Ms Tems arrested by officers of the Uganda police on Saturday night for defying Covid-19 order had been charged to court.

Their charges were Negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious diseases C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act.

The earlier plans of releasing them on police bond, were suspended after their casefile was sanctioned by the Office of the DPP.
They were jointly charged with four other Ugandans.

According to the information made available,they were all to be remanded till Wednesday 16.12.2020.

Sparklight Newspaper earlier wrote that Ugandan police arrested them shortly after their performance on Saturday night at The Big Brunch, a concert that held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala.

An Assistant Superintendent of Police and Deputy Police Spokesperson, Kampala Metropolitan Police,Luk Owoyesigyire confirmed their arrest on Twitter on Sunday.
