UNILAG promotes two Mass Communication lecturers to full Professors

Few years after the appointment of the first female Professor of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, the University council has approved the appointment of two professors  of Mass Communication in the faculty of Social Science of the Institution.

The two new professors are Professor Joseph Adepoju Tejumaiye whose tenure as the head of department has been renewed for another three years and Professor Oloruntola Sunday, both alumni of the department.

Their appointments which was backdated to January 24, 2020 and was contained in a letter by Mr. Oladejo Azeez, Registrar and Secretary of the Council.

The appointments of the two dons now make the total number of professors three.

Professor Oloruntola Sunday is a Communication scholar per excellence with research focus on Journalism Practice & Professional ethics Research, media influence and international communication.

He holds a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from the department in 1985 and 1991 respectively with a PhD degree in Agricultural Communication from the Federal University of Agriculture,Abeokuta.

Oloruntola untl his new appointment was Associate Professor and Postgraduate Coordinator at the department of Mass Communication.

Professor Adepoju Tejumaiye also holds a Bachelor ,Master’s and a PhD degree from the department of Mass Communication from the University of Lagos with focus on political communication and bias in integrated marketing tools in political advertising and integrated marketing communications.
