UNILAG Set to Host 54th Convocation Ceremonies

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially announced the comprehensive schedule for its 54th Convocation Ceremonies, slated to take place from January 10th to January 21st, 2024. The event, set to celebrate the achievements of graduating students, will host a series of activities across several days.

Key Highlights of the Programme:

January 10, 2024: The series of events will kick off with a Pre-Convocation Press Conference addressed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola at the Senate Chamber, University of Lagos, Akoka, at 10:00 a.m.

January 12, 2024: The activities continue with the 2024 Convocation Ceremonies Special Jumat Service scheduled for 2:15 p.m. at the University of Lagos Central Mosque, followed by Convocation Rehearsal I at 4:00 p.m. in the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, UNILAG, Akoka.

January 15, 2024: An Opening of Exhibition & Commissioning of Projects at 10:00 a.m. at the Senate Car Park (A Section of the Park), UNILAG, Akoka, precedes the Convocation Lecture titled “Decolonizing African Higher Education for Transformational Development,” delivered by Prof. Toyin Falola at 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m. in the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium.

January 16-18, 2024: The three-day Convocation Ceremony – January 16th to January 18th, 2024 – will witness the award of degrees to graduating students from different faculties. These days will also include alumni gatherings, receptions, a luncheon, and an enthralling Convocation Play titled “The Midnight Hotel” by Femi Osofisan (The Musical).

January 19, 2024: The ceremonies will culminate with the Long Service Award at 10:00 a.m. in the Tolulope Odugbemi Hall.

January 21, 2024: Finally, the grand event will wrap up with the 2024 Convocation Ceremonies Thanksgiving Service at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Christ Our Light, UNILAG, Akoka.

Students have also been reminded of the importance of timely return of academic outfits post-ceremony to avoid additional charges and ensure swift certificate issuance.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, also extended congratulations to all graduating students and assured the readiness of certificates for collection post-ceremonies.

The University of Lagos, Unilag, known for over five decades of qualitative education, looks forward to celebrating this significant milestone with its esteemed students.
