UNILORIN, LASU, UNILAG, FUOYE Top 2024 UTME Application Statistics Released By JAMB

Joint Admission Matriculation Board(JAMB), has released the top ten institutions (all universities) with the highest applicants in 2024, UNILORIN, LASU, UNILAG, and FUOYE top the statistical table.

The 2024 Policy Meeting with stakeholders’ in Nigeria’s education sector held by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) headed by Isiaq Oloyede, JAMB’s Registrar on Thursday, July 18, 2024 revealed the Universities with highest applicants.

University of Ilorin(UNILORIN)tops the list with 64,143 applicants; Lagos State University (LASU) holds the second position with 62,601 applicants; University of Lagos (UNILAG) comes third on the table with 59,105 applicants while Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) holds the fourth position, with 55,481 applicants in the just concluded 2024 UTME exercise.

In furtherance, the other schools below the above listed institutions in numerical order are Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, has 54,495 applicants; University of Ibadan, Oyo State—50,598; University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State—48,544; University of Benin, Edo state—47,811; Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State—44,155; and University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State—40,176.

Additionally, the board has made it known that JAMB doesn’t decide cut-off marks for Tertiary Instutions. However, according to reports ‘140’ is the minimum score.

“There’s no such thing as ‘cut-off mark’ in admission process to tertiary institutions in Nigeria, what’s obtainable is minimum tolerable score determinable by individual institutions”, JAMB stated.

The Board also said applicants that are 16 years-old of age would still be given chance into tertiary institutions, while ‘below-18years’ policy would be introduced subsequently.

“Candidates who are 16 years old would be considered for admissions into tertiary institutions for the 2024 academic year, however , the entry age would be 18 years as from next academic year.”
