Wale Edun Never Proposed N105,000 Minimum Wage, Says Presidency

Following the reports suggesting that Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, submitted a proposal of N105,000 as minimum wage; Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has refuted the claim, and also maintained the story is false.

It would be recalled that Wale Edun was directed by President Tinubu on Tuesday, June 4 2024, to reach an agreement on minimum wage with the organised labour unions in order to end reocccuring nationwide strike within 48-hours.

Today, Thursday June 4 2024, is the deadline as instructed by Mr. President. There have been speculations that Wale Edun submitted a proposal of N105,000 as minimum wage to the President.

However, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has publicly come out via his X handle to say the narrative surrounding such proposal is false and should be disregarded.

He wrote: “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false.”
