Hon Idris Wase, a member of the House of Representatives and former Deputy Speaker has alleged that Boko Haram terrorists are infiltrating Nigeria’s security agencies, particularly the Army and the Police.

This was disclosed on Wednesday, during resumed debates on the rising insecurity across the country, lawmakers urged state governors to adopt stronger measures to protect lives and property within their jurisdictions.
The session opened with contributions from Lagos lawmaker and Chair of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, Kafilat Ogbara, who raised concerns over the deteriorating security situation and called for a coordinated national response.
Her proposals included the establishment of a National Safe School Protection Framework.
Zonal caucus leaders and individual members followed with additional submissions, including calls for a review of President Bola Tinubu’s directive ordering the withdrawal of police officers attached to VIPs.
Lawmakers also lamented that Nigerians pay billions of naira annually as ransom to kidnappers.
The plenary was marked by emotional interventions, with representatives recounting the experiences of constituents killed, displaced, or forced from their ancestral communities.
Deliberations are expected to continue at the next legislative sitting.
