There is no doubt that today, many young people have made their brains redundant by allowing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to limit their level of reasoning in basic assignments and tasks. This has called for deep questions about who is smarter between AI, a machine or human beings that developed it.
Although AI can never be smarter than human beings that created it, some of us have however conceived that it is smarter than them by allowing it to dictate their next move. It could be agreed that both AI and human beings have their individual unique strengths and capabilities.
So what are the unique capabilities of AI? It is a machine that can process vast amounts of data quickly; it can perform repetitive tasks using precision; it can analyse patterns and trends as well; and it can also handle complex calculations.
From all these above, AI does not have inherent brain. Though it processes all the tasks listed above through the input of human beings. However, many human beings are becoming too lazy to make best of out of the programmed machine.
The strengths of human beings to AI are enormous and unmatched. Human beings are pretty much in terms of creativity and imagination. We have emotional intelligence and empathy that AI doesn’t have. In addition, we can engage in critical thinking and nuanced decision making while also attending to complex problem-solving issues with adaptability. Unlike AI whose capabilities are based on algorithms, data, and computational power, human intelligence encompasses cognitive, emotional and social aspects.
The reason why AI is said to be smarter than humans is merely because of its ability to process information faster, perform scalability and parallel processing, and has potential for continuous learning and improvement. In all, AI’s has limitations and it includes: lack of human intuition and common sense, dependence on high-quality training data and vulnerability to bias and errors.
As much as AI is good, human beings should not take away the advantage of their God’s given brain and ability to think outside the box. We should not relegate the God’s given gift because of machines developed by humans.
The collaboration between humans and AI, leveraging each other’s strengths is often referred to as “Augmented Intelligence.” This synergy will enable more effective problem-solving, creativity, and decision-making.
Lastly, AI is not inherently “smarter” than humans. However, it can be smarter than you if you allow it to take charge of your decision making. If you don’t, it will always queue behind you back.
