At the congeess,Chief Derin Adebiyi returns as Ogun APC Chairman
In fulfillment of the constitutional provisions of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Derin Adebiyi has been re-elected to lead the state executive council of the party in Ogun State as the executive chairman for the next political dispensation.
It will be recalled that Chief Derin Adebiyi’s first tenure was truncated by the Oshiomole led NWC in 2018 sequel to the obvious robbery of the party primaries in the state and across the country, and maladminatration that tailed his tenure. Oshiomole’s NWC had since been dissolved by President Muhammadu Buhari led NEC of the party to pave way for peace in the party.
Having conducted the ward and local government congresses of the party peacefully, the Gbenga Opaleye National Committee of the APC in consonance with the consensus agreement among the stakeholders in the state conducted the state congress elections and returned; Chief Derin Adebiyi (Chairman), Chief Jide Ojuko (Vice Chairman), Hon. Toyin Ayebusuwa (Secretary) and Hon. Wale Elegbede (Publicity Secretary) among other cadres of the party.
The congress at the Ake Palace Ground, Abeokuta, Ogun State had INEC officials, relevant security agencies and party faithful in their thousands who defied the scorching sun to elect their party officials.
Party leaders present at the Senator Ibikunle Amosun Congress include; Hon. Adekunle Akinlade TRIPLE A, Senator Tolu Odebiyi (Ogun West), Senator Lekan Mustapha (Ogun East), Arch. Lekan Adegbite (Minister for mines and steel), Hon. Kola Lawal (Reps member, Yewa South/Ipokia) Barr. Leke Adewolu (Commissioner, NCC), Hon. Mikky Kazeem, Hon. Tola Banjo, Hon. Rotimi Rahmon, Hon. Allen Taylor, Hon. Bowale Solaja, Hon. Baglo among others stakeholders of the party.
The big question remains, which of the two congresses will be recognised in Abuja?
