The FCT Police Command has dismissed as false a viral video circulating online alleging that terrorists are advancing on Abuja, describing the claim as misleading and intended to incite panic among residents.

In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, said there is no record of any terrorist attack or security breach within the Federal Capital Territory.
The command noted that preliminary findings revealed that the gunshot sounds in the video were edited from an unrelated source and overlaid on footage of an unidentified location showing buildings under construction, with no verified connection to Abuja.
Sanusi has ordered a comprehensive forensic analysis of the video’s digital trail to identify and apprehend its originator for possible prosecution under relevant laws.
The police cautioned content creators and social media users against spreading false information capable of causing fear, panic, and public disorder.
Reassuring residents, the command reiterated its commitment to maintaining security and public confidence through accurate and timely information.
It also advised members of the public to disregard the video and refrain from sharing unverified content, warning that such materials are often designed to create unnecessary panic.
