Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have intercepted three suspected gun runners and rescued six kidnapped victims in separate operations in Zamfara State.

The operations were conducted on August 23, 2026, along the Kaura Namoda–Shinkafi and Anka–Gummi roads.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, the troops intercepted a vehicle carrying three suspects along the Kaura Namoda–Shinkafi Road and recovered one AK-103-2 rifle, one magazine and 30 rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag of millet.

The statement adds that other troops responded to an attack on motorists along the Anka–Gummi Road, forcing the terrorists to flee and abandon six kidnapped victims.

Lieutenant Danja says three of the victims, who sustained minor injuries, were evacuated to a medical facility and are in stable condition.

The Joint Task Force urges residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious persons, weapons and movements to security agencies.
