The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced that three new stations on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line will open by February 2027.

Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director of LAMATA said the stations — FESTAC, Alakija and Trade Fair — will increase the number of operational stations on the Blue Line from five to eight.

Akinajo disclosed this on Wednesday at the 2026 Media Parley organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.

She said the expansion will bring rail services closer to residents along the FESTAC–Alakija–Trade Fair corridor and provide a viable alternative to road transportation.

“The planned opening of the three stations in the first quarter of 2027 will bring rail services closer to more residents,” she said.

The Blue Line currently runs five stations: Marina, National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba, and Mile 2.

Akinajo also disclosed that four Quality Bus Corridors (QBCs) are nearing completion, while work on the Marina and Mile 2 Interchange Hubs has recorded significant progress.

She said the projects are part of the state government’s integrated transport plan aimed at creating seamless connections between rail, bus, and other modes of transportation and building a sustainable urban mobility system for Lagos.
