The Ogun State Police Command has foiled a suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa, arresting three students aged 12, 18 and 18 and recovering weapons and other items.
The arrests followed intelligence received on Thursday, October 22, 2026, about a planned cult-related activity tagged “Kito Day”, allegedly involving students from different secondary schools in the area.
Acting on the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Owode-Yewa swiftly mobilised detectives, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, to the location, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
Items recovered during the operation included an English axe, two knives, a short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag.
The police said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Friday, October 23, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The operation underscores the command’s efforts to curb cult-related activities and prevent the involvement of students in criminal groups.
