Ekiti gets new Chief Judge

The Ekiti State Government formally swore in Justice Adekanye Lekan Ogunmoye as the substantive Chief Judge of Ekiti State on Monday July 7 2025.

The swearing in ceremony which took place at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office Ado Ekiti followed the confirmation of his appointment by the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Thursday July 3 2025.

Justice Ogunmoye had been serving in acting capacity since November 11 2024 following the passing of the former Chief Judge Justice Oyewole Adeyeye.

In his remarks during the ceremony Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji reaffirmed the administration’s unwavering commitment to the independence of the judiciary. He described the judiciary as the last hope of the common man and urged the new Chief Judge to discharge his responsibilities with courage integrity and the fear of God.

Justice Ogunmoye expressed gratitude to the Governor and the House of Assembly for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to deepen reforms in the judiciary by embracing technology improving court administration and ensuring timely and transparent delivery of justice.

The Ekiti State Government remains committed to strengthening democratic institutions and promoting the rule of law as a foundation for peace development and good governance.
