The Federal government has received first batch of 2,000 tractors from Belarus, fulfilling President Bola Tinubu’s directive to revolutionize agricultural activities in the country.

The heavy-duty equipment arrived in Nigeria and has been assembled in Abuja.
Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security described this development as a milestone that reaffirms the government’s commitment to modernizing agriculture, increasing productivity, and ensuring food security for all Nigerians.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Nigeria-Belarus mechanization partnership, which was formalized in September 2024.
As part of this initiative, 2,000 tractors will be deployed, each accompanied by 9,072 assorted agricultural implements designed to support a variety of farming operations.
To maximize impact, the tractors will be distributed through three key schemes: direct purchase for individuals and organizations wishing to acquire them outright, a leasing scheme that offers affordable access to mechanization without the full costs of ownership, and a service provider model that establishes tractor service centers in farming communities, enabling smallholder farmers to lease tractors as needed.
