Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged the 2025 Batch A Stream I Corps Members in Nasarawa State, to love their host communities and be prepared to serve diligently. He also commended the corps members for their discipline, diligence, dedication and level-headedness in the camp. He said their outstanding composure is remarkable and encouraged them to keep it up.

The DG stated this when he visited Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Keffi, Nasarawa State on Friday 9th May, 2025.

The NYSC Chief Executive interacted freely with the Corps members much to their delight. In his address, he told Corps members that NYSC has brought them together from diverse geopolitical zones for integration and to foster cohesion. He therefore urged them to learn the culture, way of life, and values of the people of Nasarawa State.
He further admonished the Corps members to be focused, committed, and resourceful. “NYSC is as vibrant as it was today, so make friends and build bridges. Have business ideas which you can implementwhile you wait for employment. Leverage on skills for that is the only way you can combat unemployment”, he urged.
Furthermore, General Nafiu implored Corps members not to decline Deployment and postings, “Be open to teaching just as you were taught while growing up. It is a way of giving back to the society”. On media content creation, he urged Corps members to create positive content and avoid being misguided.
On Community engagement, the Director-General tasked corps members to love their host communities and appreciate the people, “Reward may necessarily not come at this level but the prayers said on your behalf for how well you have impacted people’s lives goes a long way to better your lot. So render selfless service.”
Earlier in her welcome remarks, the State Coordinator, Salamatu A. Muhammad, on behalf of the Corps members and Camp officials, thanked the DG for coming. She reported that the Corps members have been of good behaviour and have been responding to lectures and SAED programme as well as being involved in the camp administration.
The NYSC Director-General thereafter donated two fat bulls to the Corps members. In addition he celebrated the birthday of four Corps members whose birthdays coincided with his visit to the camp. In conclusion, he prayed for God’s guidance and protection over the Corps members all through their service year. At the end of the DG’s address, Corps member Ugwu Penelope FC/25A/3861, gave the Vote of Thanks on behalf of all Corps members.
The DG was accompanied on the visit by Alhaji Nura Umar, Ag. Director (Special Duties), and Mrs. Caroline Embu, Ag. Director (Information and Public Relations).
Highlights of the event was the DG interfacing with NYSC staff and other collaborating agencies, inspection of camp facilities and special dance presentations by the cultural dance group.
