Rivers LG Elections Postponed Amid State of Emergency ‎

‎The 2025 Local Government Elections in Rivers State have been postponed, originally scheduled for August 9th. Voters will now head to the polls on Saturday, August 30, 2025.


‎
Michael Odey, ‎RSIEC Chairman announced the new date today during a crucial stakeholders’ meeting at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.

‎The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman Michael Odey stated that the postponement was necessitated by the recent state of emergency declared in Rivers State
‎
‎Alongside the new election date, RSIEC unveiled a comprehensive revised timetable and guidelines for the entire process, as the state police command stressed on its preparedness.
