Tragedy struck at Muan International Airport in South Korea on Sunday morning when a Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by Jeju Air crashed, resulting in a devastating loss of life.
Of the 181 people on board, including six crew members, it is feared that 179 passengers may have perished in the accident, NDTV reports.
Miraculously, two survivors – a crew member and a passenger – were rescued from the wreckage and are receiving medical attention, according to reports from South Korean authorities.
Dramatic footage captured by South Korea’s MBC network revealed the shocking moment a Jeju Air Boeing 737-8AS, en route from Bangkok to South Korea, landed on the runway with smoke pouring out of its engines.
In a matter of seconds, the plane was consumed by a raging inferno.
Emergency responders are still working to rescue anyone who may have survived the devastating crash, while investigators have begun their probe into the cause of the disaster.
