The members of Ogun State house of Assembly has re-elected Rt. Hon Olakunle Oluomo by all the members of the assembly who were both members of the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party.

The assembly comprises 17 lawmakers from the APC and nine lawmakers from the PDP.

Oluomo was elected unopposed.

The previous attempt to inaugurate the 10th assembly last week failed following the alleged gang-up against Oluomo over his ambition to be reelected speaker.

The inauguration did not hold until 1:48 pm on Tuesday.

The State Governor, Dapo Abiodun was, however, absent at the Inauguration held at the assembly chamber, Oke Mosan in Abeokuta.

The Clerk of the assembly, Deji Adeyemo called for nomination for the positions of speaker and deputy speaker after the lawmaker-elects have all been inaugurated.

Lamidi Musefiu from Ado-Odo Ota state constituency 2 nominated Oluomo, which was seconded by a lawmaker from the Ijebu-East state constituency, Olowode Ifedayo.

Contrarily, there was no more nomination of a contestant for the speakership seat, and in the absence of that, Clerk declared Oluomo as speaker-elect unopposed.

A lawmaker from the Yewa South State constituency, Ajayi Bolanle was thereafter nominated as deputy speaker-elect by Bakare Oluwayemisi which was also seconded by Odunuga Kaka.

Earlier, security agents ordered lawmaker-elects, dignitaries, journalists, and well-wishers out of the Assembly complex on account of security threats.
