Police officers fired tear gas at Lagos State governorship candidates Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Funso Doherty during a memorial procession marking the sixth anniversary of the #EndSARS protest in Lagos on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at the Lekki Toll Gate, where the two political candidates had joined other Nigerians to honour victims of the October 2020 #EndSARS shootings.
Footage from the scene showed police officers deploying tear gas to disperse participants gathered at the toll gate for the memorial.
Rhodes-Vivour, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, and Doherty, who is also seeking the Lagos governorship ticket, were among those taking part in the wreath-laying ceremony.
The memorial procession was organised by the Enough is Enough Movement as part of activities to commemorate victims of the #EndSARS protests.
The development comes six years after the October 2020 protests, which sparked nationwide demonstrations against police brutality and demands for reforms in the Nigerian Police Force.
