The Academic Staff Union of Universities,(ASUU) University of Jos branch has asked its members to stay at home until the federal Government clears the 8th month salary backlog accumulated during strike.
On whether it has declared strike following the payment of half salary by the office of the accountant general for October Salary,the Chairman of the Branch,Dr Lazarus Maigoro said in a statement made available to our Correspondent.
The statement which was released after an emergency congress held on the 4th of November, 2022 said : One of the issued agreed at the meeting was that 50% of the backlog of the eight month areas of our withheld salaries will be paid to our members immediately but as at the time of the press release,only 17 days prorated salaries was paid to our members by the office of the accountant General of the federation.
“…In view of the bottleneck placed by Ngige towards paying our members ,the Congress of ASUU University of Jos met today 4th and resolved to stay at home ,though not on strike until the backlog of withheld salaries are paid,the statement said.
