Controversial social media celebrity, Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky has denied a claim of bribing officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On Tuesday, Martins Otse better known as VeryDarkMan, shared a video online wherein Bobrisky allegedly claimed ‘she’ bribed some EFCC officials with N15,000,000 to drop the money laundering charges against ‘her’.
The commission then invited VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky over bribery allegations against its officials.Ola Olukoyede, the EFCC chairman, also ordered an immediate investigation into the allegations.
“In a swift reaction, the EFCC’s boss has constituted a team of Investigators to critically look into the allegations. To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery,” the EFFC’s statement reads in part.
“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly.”
But on Wednesday, the crossdresser described the viral recording as “fake,” arguing that ‘she’ did not pay any amount to the anti-graft agency, and also insisting that ‘she’ served ‘her’ term in prison.
“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison.
“I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information,” ‘she’ wrote on Instagram.
The ex-convict was released from prison on August 5 after ‘she’ was sentenced to six months on April 12 for abusing the naira.
