CNG links Banditry in Nigeria to Activities of Foreign Interest, Local Collaborators

By Ikugbadi Oluwasegun

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has alleged that foreign interests and local collaborators are orchestrating attacks to destabilize Northern Nigeria.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the group said recent kidnappings, killings and mass abductions across states like Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Kebbi and Niger point to a coordinated agenda beyond ordinary banditry.

CNG noted that violence targeting churches and communities appears deliberately timed to reinforce divisive narratives, warning that the North must not be turned into a platform for political or external agendas. It also lamented the closure of 47 Federal Government Unity Schools due to insecurity, describing it as a major setback.

The group demanded that the Federal Government identify and prosecute sponsors of terrorism, strengthen border security and deploy service chiefs to affected areas until networks are dismantled. It urged leaders at all levels to act decisively to protect citizens and prevent further escalation.
