Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Former Governor of Kaduna State has arrived the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna on Tuesday, amidst tight security for arraignment by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on allegations of corruption-related offences.

Heavily armed personnel from different security agencies, which include the DSS, The Police, and NSCDC, were deployed around the court and the environs to forestall breakdown of law and order
The ICPC is charging El-Rufai with conversion and possession of public; money laundering (FHC/KD/73/2026).
In the charge sheet dated March 18, 2026, the ICPC accused El-Rufai of unlawfully taking possession of N289.8 million as severance allowance on two occasions in September 2020 and January 2023, bringing the total to about N579 million, which is far above the legally entitled sum of about N20 million.
Another charge was filed against him and Amadu Sule at a Kaduna State High Court for abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud.
El-Rufai’s lawyers claim his arrest and detention by the ICPC were unlawful. He denies wrongdoing, calling the investigations politically motivated.
