The General Overseer of Gospel Faith Missions International, (GOFAMINT), Pastor Elijah Abina has recently demoted his deputy, Pastor Oluwayemi from Deputy General Overseer(DGO) to Assistant General Overseer (AGO – Welfare).
The General Overseer in a letter dated January 26 to the church has since been removed from social media. In the letter,Pastor Abina said his Deputy, Oluwayemi had charisma but lacked character which is one quality a leader must possess.
He also said his deputy’s ambition to become general overseer was dividing the church and creating crises in the Church of God.
He said he didn’t want the pastor, whose popularity among the church younger generation, to succeed him as the next GO.
The demotion of Pastor Emmanuel Oluwayemi has created lot controversies while there has been various moves to reconcile warring parties.
In response to the development, Oluwayemi released a video urging GOFAMINT members to keep calm and pray against the devil’s attack on the church.
A leaked internal memo now shows that Oluwayemi’s demotion is confirmed.
According to a release signed by the church secretary,Pastor Omowunmi after the executive council meeting of GOFAMINT held on 3rd February at the International Headquarters Aseese titled Resolutions of the executive council of GOFAMINT explained that the meeting was held to review the unfortunate turbulent development in the mission.
It added that the executive ratified the General Overseers reassignment of Pastor Emmanuel Oluwayemi from the position of Deputy General Overseer of the mission to Assistant General Overseer(Staff Welfare) effective from 25th January,2022.
The statement added that the church executives supports all ongoing peace moves embarked on by the senior citizens and urged all members to desist from all provactive pronouncement and writings on social media which do nothing other than to worsen the already tensed situation.
“Social media is not GOFAMINT’s official platform for disseminating official informations”,the statement added.
