As a result of violence and killings witnessed in today’s bye election,the election has been suspended forthwith.
According to a statement by Dr Tella Adeniran, the resident electoral commissioner,he explained that the election which started prwcefully at exactly 8:30am on the 20th March 2021 later turn violent.
He said In Polling unit 07,Ward 7,three votes were shot dead while a youth corps member and police woman attached to the unit and an INEC staff sustained gun shot sounds and are currently being treated.
“it is unfortunate that in spite of the effort of the commission in giving Nigerians free and fair ,credible and inclusive election ,some people appear to be unprepared for an improved electoral process”.
Adeniran said: The situation is such that,a conducive environment no longer exists for further electoral activity at the PUs and the collation centre.
Thus,he declared the election is hereby suspended forthwith.
