Electricity firms announces another national grid collapse in Lagos,Enugu

Nigeria’s electricity grid has collapsed again with distribution companies announcing on Monday.

The collapse occured late Monday morning, according to report. This would be the seventh time the grid would collapse this year, causing blackout across states.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) said on its Facebook page that The collapse had “resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network”.

The note by the company’s head of cooperating communication, Emeka Ezeh, said it was unable to provide service to customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and the Imo States.

Announcing the development, Monday, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company, in a statement via its verified Twitter handle, said, “This is to inform you that the outage you are currently experiencing is due to the system collapse of the national grid, which occurred earlier today at 10:50hrs. This has affected the Transmission Stations within our network and resulted in the loss of power supply to our customers. Kindly bear with us as we await the restoration of the grid.”
