ESTABLISHMENT OF MORE TERTIARY INSTITUTION IS TO MEET NIGERIA’S POPULATION DEMANDS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION – SENATE PRESIDENT

Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate had said the establishment of more tertiary education institutions in the country is meant to provide a life line to the more than two million Nigerian Youths who apply for admission each year.

He gave the pointer at plenary Thursday when the senate passed eight bills seeking the establishment of more federal universities in the country.

Senate noted that Education aside being one of the key priority areas of the administration of President Tinubu, as evident in his prompt assent to such legislations, would also have the multiplier effect of reducing insecurity.

In another development Senate has resolved to impress on the President to approve payment of compensation to the family of Mr Fidelis Omhonria, who lost his two year old son, while the younger one year old, sustained injury to the eye following a shooting incident involving an operative of the NDLEA in 2023 in Asaba, Delta State.
