One Okparavero Ufuoma, an Assistant Superintendent Immigration Officer II, has been suspended by Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for allegedly demanding a financial help from a traveler.
Kenneth Umo, Spokesman for NIS, in a statement released on Thursday, stated that Officer’s act caught on camera in a viral video does not in anyway reflects the ethical conduct the body upholds.
In the viral video, the caption attached which was: “this is how Immigration officers treat tourists in Nigeria” had been refuted by Nigeria Immigration Service, positing that the body is against anything of such.
According to the released statement, Kemi Nandap, the Comptroller of Immigration Service in Nigeria, evaluated distinctively that the officer’s behavior is against the ongoing reforms being done by the body.
Kemi Nandap greatly assured the members of the public that the Officer has been suspended pending the outcome of investigation going on, due to the Service rules and regulations. She, however, promised air commuters that the body would always be on their side and also continue to offer great services to Nigerians.
