Mali’s Junta Halts All Political Party Activities Indefinitely After 4 Years of Military Coup

Mali’s junta has made a bold move by issuing a decree that puts a sudden stop to all political party activities after four years of military coup in the Mali.

The announcement was delivered by Abdoulaye Maiga, government spokesperson in a statement broadcast on state television on Wednesday, he said, “The proclamation halts indefinitely all operations of political parties and entities with political affiliations to uphold public order, as stated in the announcement.

Recall that since August 2020, Mali has been under the control of the military, marking the inaugural of eight coups within a span of four years across West and Central Africa, with similar upheavals occurring in neighboring countries such as Burkina Faso and Niger.
