NAFDAC Cracks Down on Expired, Unregistered Products in Kano Markets

By Ikugbadi Oluwasegun

NAFDAC has intensified enforcement actions against the sale of expired, unregistered, and unwholesome food and cosmetic products in Kano. Following multiple petitions from concerned citizens, a three-day operation was carried out in Singer Market and several supermarkets across the Kano metropolis.

Led by the Directors of Investigation & Enforcement and the North-West Zone, the operation resulted in the removal of expired candies, beverages, and unregistered products, including foreign items lacking English labelling valued at over ₦350 million. In addition, unregistered food and cosmetic products were seized from well-known supermarket chains.

NAFDAC is continuing its investigation into those involved in the distribution of these products and urges the public to report suspicious items to the nearest NAFDAC office. The Agency remains committed to protecting public health and ensuring only safe, quality-regulated products are sold in Nigeria.
