The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has condemned the ongoing call for strike action and the removal of Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Balyesia state, Dr. Lukman Adegoke Agbabiaka.

The body, representing over 28.1 million students nationwide, asserted that the rector’s leadership has successfully transformed the institution from a state of total decay into a model of progress and accountability.

The Senate President of NAPS, Festus Ayomide Oyewumi, made this known in Ibadan at a press conference, recall that before the appointment of Dr. Agbaika as rector, the institution was on the brink of collapse. The student’s body praised the establishment of modern ICT and CBT facilities, as well as functional laboratories and renovated hostels equipped with solar energy under Agbaika’s leadership.

The association also condemned the ethnic bias they believed is influencing the opposition against Dr. Agbabiaka. NAPS call for the immediate reopening of the Polytechnic and the resumption of academic activities, alongside a demand for the withdrawal of the illegitimate call for the rector’s removal.
